Two injured in a crash on US 42

TOWNSHIP OF MILLCREEK – The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Marysville Post is investigating a personal injury accident involving an SUV and a passenger car. This happened around 5:05 a.m. on US Highway 42 near County Road 104 on Wednesday.

According to the report, a 2006 Lincoln Aviator operated by Patrick Taucher, 28, of Delaware, was heading southwest on the US 42. A 2016 Toyota Prius C operated by John Talmage, 56, of Canal Winchester was also traveling southwest on US-42 when Mr. Taucher attempted to pass Mr. Talmage. Mr. Talmage reportedly lost control of his vehicle on wet roads and struck the right side of Mr. Taucher’s vehicle.

Mr. Taucher’s vehicle left the left side of the road and struck a ditch, causing it to overturn. Both Mr. Talmage and Mr. Taucher sustained non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Talmage was transported to Riverside Hospital by Jerome Township EMS while Mr. Taucher’s was treated on site.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Concord Township Emergency Medical Services, Township Fire and Emergency Medical Services de Jerome, Hogan tires and services and 24/7 towing.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor and the occupants of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts. The patrol reminds motorists to watch their speed, especially in dangerous weather.
