Description of the role
We welcome applications for this exciting new position from individuals with relevant knowledge and experience in developing physics-based models (low fidelity / fast) to evaluate aircraft configurations (with low / zero emissions ) at the level of the systems of interest.
About the role
This position will contribute to research on a project within a large team. It involves research activities such as the development of physics-based models to evaluate new aircraft configurations. These models will be used for the exploration of conceptual / technological space with new airframe configurations (High Aspect Ratio, Strut-Braced, Folding Wing Tip, Boundary Layer Ingestion, etc.) and propulsion architectures (series, parallel hybrid-electric, turbo-electric, etc. with kerosene / hydrogen fuel).
To be appointed at researcher level, you will be trained at doctoral level with a doctorate in aerospace, mechanical or computer engineering (or very close to completion). Alternatively, you will have a relevant master’s degree in order to be appointed to the research assistant level. You will have experience in low-fidelity physics-based analysis methods for aeronautical disciplines i.e. aerodynamics and structures, aircraft mission performance analysis for new propulsion architectures ( electric / hybrid-electric, etc.) and knowledge of preliminary aircraft design. You will enjoy composing project deliverables and giving presentations, and be able to attend project integration workshops and other meetings. Equipped with excellent communication skills, you will also be a good team player and have the ability to cope with pressure. Project planning is also an important skill for this position, along with the ability to demonstrate self-motivation, persistence and initiative.
