MyGoFlight HUD Gets FAA Approval

The HUD is priced at $ 29,500 and it should take three to five days to install. The HUD combiner mounts to the top of an aircraft’s windshield and projects transparent images including an attitude indicator, flight director, pitch scale, speed and altitude bands, CDI, and a mini-HSI, as well as digital and text navigation information. including ground speed, fuel flow and manifold pressure.

During an instrument approach, you can see all of this information, as well as the runway environment, via the HUD. If you are on heading and on the glide path during an ILS approach, the flight director flight path marker will appear in the runway approach area.

The SkyDisplay has been in preparation for three years. A theft report on the unit appeared in the February 2020 issue of AOPA pilot.

So far, SkyDisplay has been installed in MyGoFlight’s Cirrus SR22 and four Air Tractor AT-802F “Fire Boss” water bombers. As the HUD is installed in other aircraft, they will be added to the STC. So far, 19 owners have signed up for HUD.

The MyGoFlight HUD represents the first equipment of its kind available for single and twin cylinder pistons and turbines in general aviation. With almost identical features to high-end HUDs costing $ 500,000 or more on big business jets, this new STC symbolizes a new world of capability for the aircraft that needs it most.

MyGoFlight also introduced a new option for its HUD, an Enhanced Vision System (EVS). The EVS projects an infrared view onto the HUD, allowing better visibility of the terrain and upcoming weather in both day and night conditions. MyGoFlight says the EVS “will make it easier for pilots to fly in weather conditions, turn night into day, and help” see “through smoke and light fog, while keeping their eyes open. outside”.

The above mentioned “Fire Boss” aerial tractors have their HUDs equipped with the EVS system. According to MyGoFlight CEO Charles Schneider, their pilots can detect fires in their early stages using EVS, long before aerial observers can locate hot spots.

The hardware and software for the EVS option is priced at $ 5,000. Customers must provide their own thermal imaging cameras. EVS and HUD can be installed simultaneously.

Schneider said more than 20 FAR Part 23 piston, turboprop and light jet aircraft have committed to pre-certification positions for the SkyDisplay.

MyGoFlight also unveiled a new line of USB chargers called InfinityPower. These two-piece panel mount units can accommodate devices powered by USB A, B, and C. The power base module is the panel mount socket and USB modules are inserted into it.

Schneider said that “USB technology has changed form factor and power levels more than five times in the past 10 years.

“Portable electronics have become increasingly power hungry, and the industry has responded with rapid upgrades to meet that need… unfortunately, the time and cost to reopen a panel, remove the unit previous and installing another are both time consuming. consuming and expensive. No more. Install the power base module once. Insert the USB module. Level up however you like with a simple twist anyone can do anytime.

The price of the base power module and each USB module will be $ 175. Launch orders are priced at $ 150 for each component.
