New Delhi [India], Oct 5 (ANI): Indian Air Force Chief VR Chaudhari Air Chief Marshal on Tuesday said the mega-project to install 114 multirole fighter jets would be carried out in the part of the Make in India project.
He said the 114 planes would be essential for the IAF to cope with the declining number of fighter squadrons as they would be used to replace the Mirage, MiG-29 and Jaguar fleet in near future.

Responding to a question on whether the Air Force would place orders for 36 more Rafale fighter jets, he said Rafale would be one of the contenders for the 114 aircraft tender and that the service was very satisfied with its performance.
He further stated that the IAF would meet its fifth generation fighter needs through the Advanced Medium Fighter Project developed by DRDO.
Chaudhari said the force would also like to include fifth and sixth generation technologies in the 114 multi-role fighter program.
Asked about the ISTAR project, the Air Chief said the aircraft would be developed with the United States of America as part of technological cooperation between the two parties. (ANI)
