Japan Airlines Selects Thomas Global Flight Displays For Boeing 767 Fleet Upgrade

IRVINE, Calif. & SYDNEY – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – Japan Airlines (JAL) has signed with Thomas Global Systems to equip the airline’s Boeing 767-300 / 300ER fleet with TFD-7000 series liquid crystal display (LCD) flight displays.

The JAL award follows the approval of the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) TFD-7000 from the Civil Aviation Bureau of Japan (JCAB).

The TFD-7000 series displays offer a high-performance, cost-effective LCD upgrade that addresses critical cathode ray tube (CRT) obsolescence issues, increases operational efficiency, and provides a growth platform for further development. new features.

The TFD-7000 series displays offer the only LCD solution available for the Boeing 757/767 and 737 Classic aircraft. TFD-7000 Series Modernization captures all the benefits of LCD technology in a proven solution with a growth platform for new functionality to support emerging airspace needs, while avoiding modification flight deck with associated aircraft downtime and crew retraining costs.

The TFD-7076/7066 LCD solution replaces the old Collins Aerospace EDU-776/766 CRT screens currently installed on the cockpits of the Boeing 757, 767 and 737 Classic. The TFD-7076/7066 LCD displays are both interchangeable and mixable with existing legacy EDU-776/766 CRT displays, can be installed at night or at the door, and are fully compatible with the Boeing EFIP-701 and EAP- 701/3 symbol generators. STC approvals have been received from FAA, EASA, Transport Canada, JCAB, ANAC and CAAC.
