Imagine Aviator Streamlines Premium Linear Services with Essentials Channel Offering

Imagine Communications continues to deliver new features in its award-winning Imagine Aviator™ platform with the launch of the Essentials channel building option for its Make TV cloud-based streaming solution. Designed for channels that do not require high levels of interactivity or support for live workflows, the Essentials option makes operating and monitoring linear channels simpler and more cost-effective. Essentials will debut at IBC2022 (September 9-12, RAI Amsterdam, booth 2.B49).

The Essentials option complements the Standard and Premium channel offerings of the Make TV solution, which support high-end features and sophisticated workflows. Essentials Channels deliver exceptional video, audio, and graphics quality, ensuring that the focus on premium viewing experiences at the heart of Aviator is maintained in even the simplest channel-building applications.

As part of the revolutionary Aviator platform – which combines scheduling, rights management, channel building, VOD, ad sales, ad placement, ad serving, campaigns, etc. on a single cloud platform – Essentials channels integrate end-to-end Plan, build, and monetize features in a cloud-native implementation that enables media companies to continue to successfully deliver and monetize content to meet changing consumer viewing habits.

“The Essentials offering enables our customers to rapidly deploy new channels that leverage the power of the Aviator platform and provide great value and ease of use needed for theme-style channels,” says Rob Malcolm, Product Manager at Imagine Communications. “As media companies of all types and sizes look for new ways to cater to the way consumers want to watch, Essentials Channels provide lower-cost options to stand up and operate channels that use efficiency from the public cloud, making it easier than ever to address expanding advertising opportunities and creating highly impactful and dynamic channels with real viewer appeal.”

The Essentials offering is designed for 24/7 scheduled channels such as movies and episodic content, FAST channels, local and regional broadcast apps. It is also well suited for contextual and occasional use channels, as well as business continuity/disaster recovery and persistent use cases. Essential Channels share the same user interface as the more sophisticated Standard and Premium Channels, maintaining a uniform operating interface for all channel types in the system.

While the operation of Channel Essentials is simple, the underlying technology uses the latest container-based management and deployment connected to a comprehensive suite of monitoring and analytics tools. Playback engine that handles frame-accurate playback of video, audio, triggers, and graphics runs on a Linux operating system, reducing channel launch costs and reducing total cost of ownership.

The graphics engine uses HTML5 overlay graphics and supports inserting external real-time dynamic data and playlist data. SCTE trigger insertion supports broadcast and OTT ad insertion, including integration with Imagine’s SureFire™ broadcast-quality video ad server and other popular ad insertion solutions. dynamic ads.

As with the rest of the Aviator platform, Essentials channels run in the public cloud. Only a web browser and internet connection are needed to securely access and operate all aspects of every channel, putting control at the fingertips of operators wherever they are ― in the office, remotely or when work from home. It offers the flexibility to operate within a media company’s own cloud account or within Imagine’s SaaS environment, where it is monitored, managed and maintained by Imagine, allowing customers to reap the benefits of operational efficiency. , while retaining control of all creative aspects of their content. .

“We continue to deliver functionality into the Aviator platform on our aggressive roadmap schedule,” adds Malcolm. “The Essentials channel offering, like other aspects of the Aviator solution, shows how we are rapidly expanding the platform’s feature set and addressable market. This latest introduction completes our full range of channel types, enabling Aviator to provide the most diverse range of linear channel creation options from a single platform on the market today.
