In terms of length, Boeing’s latest jet measures 143 feet and eight inches, enough to accommodate up to 204 passengers in a two-class configuration and 230 in a single-class configuration. Its size comes with compromises, however, especially in terms of range.
The Max 10 can travel up to 3,300 nautical miles when equipped with an auxiliary fuel tank, creating city pairs such as New York-Dublin, Ireland; London, United Kingdom-Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong-Perth, Australia feasible under the right conditions.
The smaller Max 7, for comparison, can travel a greater range of 3,850 nautical miles.
The engines of the Max 10 are also identical to those of its predecessors. A pair of CFM International LEAP-1B engines is fitted to the entire 737 Max family.
The engines offer 28,000 pounds of thrust each and help increase the aircraft’s fuel efficiency over older 737 models.
A pair of “advanced technology” fins on each wing, which is standard on all Max aircraft, also contributes to the aircraft’s fuel efficiency.
